First Heisman Trophy Winner passes away.: There is no ObitFilter, but I thought this should be mentioned here at least. The two things I really appreciate about Mr. Berwanger's story are that he never played pro football, and his aunt used the trophy for years as a doorstop. Very cool.
balked at meeting Berwanger's demand for $25,000 over two years. Doesn't that seem like an awful lot of money for the 1930s? I wonder what other players were making. That's a nice little human interest story, yhbc.

In the days before platoon football, Berwanger had to pass, punt, block, tackle, kick off, kick extra points and return punts and kickoffs. Cool.
