Formula Ferrari: After Bridgestone's inability to provide decent tyres to Ferrari for the 2005 season, Max Mosely decides to revoke the rule change that left them unable to compete with Michelin. 50% of the F1 revenue stream isn't enough of an advantage?

I never miss a chance to bad mouth Bernie Ecclestone and his merry band of idiots. The rule restricting each car to one set of tires per weekend turned formula 1 into formula zero. The safety factor alone should have vetoed this rule. Formula 1 was, at one time not so long ago, a collection of the most technically advanced machines in the world. Today, there are swamp buggy races that are better organized than the FIA. I would like to see active suspensions, automatic gear boxes, ABS, all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering and turbo charging back in F1. Make the cars the stars instead of a weekend at Bernie's

I could not agree more with Team Skid. But I side with current engine rules in the regards of when and how they may be changed.

Why are we trying to limit the money spent on automotive research? Formula 1 is the only series left that has even remotely stayed true to idea that racing is where R&D happens. All of the above mentioned developements were pioneered by F1.

The more I think about tires, the more I feel that true R&D and tire limits are relevant. But being limited to one brand is not in the best interest of the sport. If I do not like the tires I am on, I change brands. Granted chassis and suspension setups change, but that is part of racing and builing a truly better, faster, handiling and ultimately safer car. I still do not like Ecclestone, racings equvilent of Kim Jong Il.

max mosley, who actually owned a formula one team at one time (remember March formula 1) should have known better than to make some of the rule changes - the one set of tires per race was bound to make a real difference in performance as it did - it being changed back is correct, the races should be determined by engines, suspensions and drivers. the absolute most asinine rule change is the one restricting automatic transmissions - there are very few engine failures because you can't miss a shift and overrev the engine - this rule change will be revoked next year when about half the field doesn't finish races because of blown engines - watch and see
