AFL to Kansas City via New Orleans: The AFL approved an expansion team for Kansas City starting the 2006 season. This expansion team will take 15 players from the current New Orleans Voodoo. The plan was designed so that the Voodoo players can continue to play together and not have to sit out until the team has a new stadium. The article does not say what the Voodoo will do about players when they are up and running again.

This is a double edged sword. It is terrible for New Orleans to have to lose the players that they have cheered for and grown accustomed to. However, it is good for the players and for KC because the players won't be forced to split up and KC will have a solid team to start off their newest sports addition with. Bravo to the AFL for making a quick, rational decision in such a difficult position and I hope that the people of New Orleans continue to rally behind those players as they come to KC as well behind the new players that will staff the Voodoo in a year or so when they are on their feet.
