Ripken admits to "shock" about Palmeiro: Cal admits to cheating at cards when he was young! Interesting article.
You would think he was eating more than protien bars!

I believe this is now folding into that black cloud that's over baseball.

It is going to be very interesting to see what happens to Raffy when he comes back tomorrow. Fans in Baltimore can be pretty harsh at times. They are nothing like Philly but they will let you know what they think.

It is going to be very interesting to see what happens to Raffy when he comes back tomorrow. The Washington Post was speculating the other day about this and seems to believe that Raffy is done in Baltimore. That they will use this as a chance to try out first baseman Walter Young from AAA Ottawa. Being so far behind Boston this late they figure they can save some face by not letting Raffy back on the diamond, and release him at the end of the season.

It is going to be very interesting to see what happens to Raffy when he comes back tomorrow. OK , 10 day suspension's over , what has changed ? When Raffy returns has the 'roids been detoxed from his body ? No , yet any benefits he gives to the Orioles is now judged legal . Every hit , run and rbi he contributes is still by the juiced body we have all been bashing . 10 days later and all's well ? In the pursuit of justice for all players not on steroids , this punishment does not fit the crime .

OK cats and kittens hold onto your hats. I think this was a cover-up from way back to keep MLB from getting the egg in their face. Why so long an arbitration period? We still have'nt found out when the test was done. I think Congress is going to hand Raffey his ass, (just to make an example) and then dig back into Big Bud. Mlb just made congress look like a bunch of fools, I don't think that will pass, and certainly not be forgotten.

Given what so many others from the same era are coming forth and saying now, my only thought reading is, was Cal really that naive, or was he just sheltered from all the activity? Because he wouldn't lie and deny all knowledge of something that apparently was going on in a corner of every major league locker room for the last 15 years, would he? Would he? The main benefit from steroids isn't muscle building but quicker recovery from injury. You'd think someone who took "playing every day" to a whole new level would at least have been given the opportunity to try them at some point. You'd think?
