Germany getting computer help: "Sports Analytics has been beaming via satellite daily packages of details on opposing teams and players to Germany coach Rudi Voeller in South Korea and Japan." What other technologies are changing the way this beautiful sport is played.

The obvious technology issue of the world cup is the ball; I haven't heard it mentioned much past the first week but there was a fair amount of talk that it knuckled a lot more than traditional balls and that the scoring average would go up a bit as a result. That out of the way, I don't really think the computerized scouting sounds like it is changing much- nothing that a little deliberate unpredictability by coaches can't mostly counteract.
