"Ryan Leaf will take it slow in Seattle," ESPN's John Clayton writes in a schmaltzy story. Of course he will. Slow is Leaf's only speed.
I don't understand the continuing appeal that the press has for Ryan Leaf. The "turning over a new Leaf" story was told in Tampa, told in Dallas, and is now told in Seattle. At some point, it's time for them to abandon the latest great white dope and tell stories about athletes who matter. He has neither the talent nor the desire to succeed in the NFL, as Clayton's interview shows. No one throws a sideline out-route interception for a TD like Leaf; he's a complete spare. It's only a matter of time before the guy makes like a tree and leafs.

amen, rcade. leaf couldn't make it with the dallas cowboys, and they are desperate for good quarterbacking.
