Jose Canseco admits to using steroids.
: He also says he's going to "name names" of other players that used it, some of which are still in baseball today. His book won't be coming out for a while yet, so let the speculation begin...

What a surprise. Jose wants some publicity. Anything to be remembered for something other than heading a homer over the fence, eh?

No way, Jose! (To being admitted into the Hall of Fame, that is)

i wouldn't be surprised if eric karros is one of the steroid users. perhaps mo vaughn (or, for that matter, greg vaughn)?

Mark McGwire would seem to be the likely choice for me. He played on the same team as Canseco and his body looks like an absolute freak of nature (especially compared to his rookie year photos). Barry Bonds might be a candidate as well, as he and Canseco played in the Bay area and may have "swapped secrets". Personally, I'm hoping it's neither of them as I like the mythical status that McGwire has built up among the fans, and I am a big fan of Bonds (the player, not the person).

How could you tell if Mo Vaughn used steroids? Did his bodymass suddenly increase? In a good way?

yer: i was thinking that a player that uses steroids would likely be a fairly big person that has also had a history of injury (since steroids supposedly cause the body to break down). what about rondell white?

I know nothing of baseball. Don't they test for drugs? Canseco hasn't made enough money already he has to sell his autobiography in this way? For shame. He seemed like such a nice bloke on The Simpsons. I'll get me coat.

I for one, would love to the read the book. Particularly if it had some how to sections. I could use a quick 10-15lbs of muscle. I suspect that the majority of the guys in MLB are juiced. In fact, I think about half the guys at my gym are pin-cushions as well. I am curious if the negatives of steroid use outweight the benifits. With obesity and heart disease being a major health problem I suspect judicious use of a muscle building steroid programs could far outweigh the harm.
