So who's got Mo's back?: I'm not sure the Blazers do, after only levying a 2-game suspension on Darius Miles for verbally assaulting class-act Maurice Cheeks during a film session. Coach Cheeks says he's willing to forgive, but in the end, it may be Mo who's taking the fall.

Who in their right mind would coach that team next?

Who in their right mind would give Darius Miles a $48 million guaranteed contract?

Cheeks is clearly gone. He should salvage his dignity and quit, rather than issuing apologies about causing the fight with Miles by his tone of voice. Who in their right mind would coach Miles, who will have gotten two coaches fired before he's even 24 years old? Miles helped get John Lucas fired in Cleveland with a post-game confrontation in which he demanded to be traded. As one fan on Usenet wrote, "Maybe Darius Miles can smell death on his coaches."

If so, he'd be useful to anyone with an interest in fighting dogs.

Miles was just echoing a lot of what's being said in the stands, except with racial epithets thrown in. Mo Cheeks and likely GM John Nash are goners at the end of this season. Coaching/GM'ing by committee serves only to accomodate the vocal minority. No one I know, including serveral season ticket holders, ever cared about the off-court woes as long as the on-court performance wasn't affected. Trading guys like 'Sheed for upstanding characters who can't play for shit has served only to alienate people who go to basketball games to watch basketball. The Miles, Ratliff, and Randolph re-signings/extensions were all dumb moves. The only smart move they appear to have made in the offseason was to pick up Pryzbilla, who they then sat for almost the first half of the season before they realized he could actually play.

Sheed is having no problems in Detroit. It looks like the problem is the culture of the Trailblazer organization. They should fumigate the whole place and start over.

Best part of this article is at the end. "We support Cheeks 100 percent and the same with Darius," center Joel Przybilla said. "It was just an instance of two guys having different views. I have seen worse. I was in Milwaukee with Anthony Mason, and this was nothing." I don't particularly care about the Blazers, but I'm glad Miles only got 2 games because he's on my fantasy team and I'm on a roll right now.
