Marion Jones fires a $25million shot: across Victor Conte's bow. Her proof of him lying on 20/20 is that she passed a lie detector test and a statement from her doctor saying she never used steroids. The suit also goes on to claim that Conte's recent statements are, among other things, just a ploy to curry favor with the prosecution for a lighter sentence. mmmmm...curry...

Consider this thread a follow up to this thread. And I have no idea why I selected the "Culture" option from the drop-down list. It should've gone under the "Olympics" option. However, I guess this has to do with the culture of sport as well, so whatever.

Not to rush to judgment against Jones, but if I'm one of the world's fastest women, and someone reveals a he-said, she-said allegation that I was doping, I would probably file an eleventy billion-dollar lawsuit too. I'd get some press for my claims of innocence, and I could always drop the suit later if necessary.

Exactly - it's pretty much predictable in either case, innocent or guilty. And it's pretty much her only chance at $25 million. Whatever the result of the BALCO scandal, she'll never see that kind of money again. She's sponsor kryptonite regardless.
