Each of my favorite teams is mentioned in this article. I want to cry.

What registration, garfield? Clicking on that link took me straight in (and I'm not registered with them).

It asked me for a login and password. Thank the gods for BugMeNot and Firefox. One right-click and I'm in.

That was a good article. Allan Houston's contract is truly mind-boggling. I hope the Knicks don't sit Jamal Crawford when Houston comes back, but they're so incompetent, they probably will. Don't forget that they have Penny Hardaway, too - another backup guard with a huge contract.

At the time the Rangers signed him, for a 32 year old defensive center, Holik was a bargain. Just look at those stats. I mean, all that grit is priceless.

The ARod signing isn't the only deal Ranger's fans can blame. Chan Ho Park ended up signing with the Rangers as a free agent before the 2002 season for $65 million over five years. Since then he has appeared among the league's top 10 in only four categories: walks allowed (fifth in 2002), hit batsmen (first in 2002, fifth in 2004), wild pitches (ninth in 2002), and salary (sixth in 2003, eighth in 2004). He was injured for most of 2003, and his best season was 2002 when he went 9-8 with a 5.75 ERA.

I much as I hate to link a NY Post article... Houston is tied with Chris Webber as the NBA's second-highest-paid player this season, making $17.53 million. He is paid more than Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'Neal, Ray Allen, Jason Kidd and Stephon Marbury. Re-read that last sentence. That is astounding.

Chan Ho Park and Darren Dreifort's deals have always made me laugh. At least you could say at times that Brown, Houston, Brunell, even Holik had good-great seasons that helped justify the big deals. But those two guys just sucked so bad after they signed their deals that it's ridiculous.

According to this NBA salaries page, Allan Houston and Penny Hardaway are on the books for a combined $32.1 million this season. You could pay the starting lineup of the Spurs or the Pistons with that money, and in Detroit's case, you'd have money left over for Darko. Gotta give it to Isiah Thomas - he must be doing someting right for the Knicks because he's a moron when it comes to salaries..

Dreifort makes more than the highest paid player on the Twins: Brad Radke...but of course the entire Twins team only comes in at about $53,585,000.00...a little less than it cost to pay Mike Hampton, Chan Ho Park, Kevin Brown, and Mo Vaughn in 2004...approximately $61,505,953.00. I think the Mets get some money back on Vaughn via insurance or something but still, that is seriously messed up.
