West Brom appoint Bryan Robson as new manager.: Former fan favourite Bryan Robson has returned to the club he left in 1981. His managerial record so far is spotty. Can he keep the Baggies in the Premiership? My take as a West Brom fan: I'm not particularly enthused or optimistic, but then again I had the same feelings about Gary Megson four years ago. Meanwhile, there is still speculation that Megson could end up at arch-rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His first game is at home to Middlesbrough, where he was manager for 7 years.

Bryan Robson was Man U and England captain back in the 80s. He actually played for West Brom and Ron Atkinson (the man of funny sayings) and was brought to ManU when Atkinson became manager there. I only remember him from watching Liverpool v ManU games, so that's all I know.

Bryan Robson, at his peak, (from about 82 - 88) was the world's best midfielder IMHO. He wasn't particularly creative, like Platini, but he bossed the midfield, could shore up a defence, and had a habit of popping up in the box and scoring goals. Probably the closest parallel to him is a cross between Roy Keane and Frank Lampard.

if you ask me, they're matching like with like - West Brom are rubbish, Bryan Robson (as a manager) is rubbish. Good luck surviving guys.

salmacis - League Cup, Leyland Daf Trophy, Auto-Windscreens Shield. Though what that's got to do with the Baggies new manager I don't know.

It'll be interesting to see Robbo go back to Old Trafford with WBA, him being an old Man U captain and all.
