So we're now supposed to call him Gate? That's really going to help his public profile.

What a plonker. At least he's chosen a name to suit his facial hair.

So is it pronounced "gate", "gee-ate" or the aforementioned "Throatwarbler Mangrove"? Paul is indeed an insane name and a two-character alphanumeric name should help immensely on the respect front. He shoulda wen't to a cryptic symbol though, so he could follow Prince's lead and be "The Nutter formerly know as Gazza" which would later be shortened to "The Nutter".

"Who needs Gates when there are no fences." From a t-shirt I got at the second Java One conference. But football fields have no fences either...

Apparently, it makes perfect sense when spoken in the language of the Nation of Geordie.

The guy has obviously completely lost his mind! Didn't he say he wanted a name that would mean he was taken seriously?

I wonder if a group of the wealthiest countries in the world would take offense to this name change. What's the odds on Gazza having a bit of an "accident" in the near future?

If he wanted to distance himself from his checkered past... why did he choose his shirt number? /imponderable
