Ryder Cup Countdown: I know you're not all golf fans, but my God, people! Let the trash talking begin! I quite fancied Europe's chances until bloody Vijay went and made Tiger angry by taking away his world number one spot. I want your comments - specifically, I want a prediction for this year's event and your favourite Ryder Cup moment ever.

My prediction is that Europe will win by two points. My favourite Ryder Cup moment ever was Eamon D'Arcy holing out on the final green to beat (putterless) Ben Crenshaw in the singles at Muirfield Village in 1987.

I predict I will miss this even entirely ... again.

I predict that the America crowds will be rude and obnoxious to the European players, even so much as cheering when they miss a putt or shank a drive.

Like some of the Canadian fans did this past weekend to Vijay?

Exactly. It was disgusting. As a Canadian, I'd like to think we'd show a bit more class when the top ranked players do show up for our Open championship. That said, if Vijay was playing against ANYONE other than Weir in that final round, he'd have been cheered on by pretty much everyone there.

The PGA banned alcohol on the course all week, so we shouldn't see anything too bad.

No alcohol? That's as far from the golf I know as you can get without calling it 'hole-ball'.

Europe will win by a point or two, because once more the egos of the American side will bruise one another. Plus, the US team can't play foursomes. But it will go down to the wire again, and the star will be an unheralded member of the European team: probably one of the Brits with Walker Cup experience. Favourite moment? Christy O'Connor in '89.

etagloh: There's a lovely story told throughout the country about that shot O'Connor played in '89. Allegedly, one of the Irish supporters in the crowd was overheard saying to his friend in the aftermath as the crowd went wild - "Not bad, but he'll always be fucking junior."

Okay, I got that prediction wrong... front page link, anyone?
