Weren't these guys supposed to finish third?: Brian Gunn of Redbird Nation breaks down the surprise of the NL Central, the St. Louis Cardinals.
I'm finding the same thing, jason. Al over at Al's Ramblings can be cranky (especially when he deviates from baseball to politics), but I love the writing he does about the Brewers. A big story that hasn't really appeared in our local news is the surge in attendance at Miller Park this year (in spite of pre-season predictions that the Sexson trade would drive fans away). Al was the first to predict we'd break 2 million in yearly attendance, and I don't think the newspapers have even touched that angle.

Here's another terrific piece on Jim Edmonds.

I've clung to Jim Edmonds on my fantasy baseball team for 6 seasons now. Everytime I think about trading him, I have to remind myself that he's only 34 years old and that it's pretty hard to find a Gold Glove CF with +1.000OPS. I don't think he's HOF material, but he's definitely Hall of Impressive material. Throw in the fact that he makes some of prettiest highlight-reel catches in the game today, and he's easily one of my favourite players in the majors.

Most of these baseball bloggers amaze me because they are much better at writing about their teams than their city's 'sportsguys' at the local paper.
