Very cool. Now if I could just find one in the attic.

I just recently inherited a few hundred near-mint baseball cards from this era. My wife and I plan to "borrow" them from our safe deposit box to scan at some point in the near future. I have only had a few minutes to peruse them since they came into my posession, but here are a few names I remember seeing: Ty Cobb (4 cards), Christy Mathewson, Tickers, Evers AND Chance on separate cards, Cy Young, Homerun Baker, and many more that are slipping my mind. If it isn't a self-post no-no I will try and post a link to them once I get them scanned. Thanks for this link, Ufez!

That's fantastic, terrapin. If you get cold feet about the self-linking once you get these online, shoot me an e-mail and I'll post it. (lucky bastard).

Oh my terrapin that is really something. That's your retirement fund right there. Was the collector someone in your family? I am this close [ ] to selling my collection. I know I'm never going to have children and I need some dough and while I love the cards I have I think they're just worth more to me as greenbacks. It's a decent collection, there's a few Mantles and Reggies and Marichals and Gibsons and other HOFer's from that era. I also have probably twenty unopened boxes of wax packs from the 80's. I have no idea what the collection might fetch. Thanks for the link Ufez, enjoyed perusing the site.

Was the collector someone in your family? The cards were originally my grandfather's. I saw them once when I was a teenager in the early 80s, and then they were put away in the safe deposit box until I discovered them when my father passed away in May. Thanks for the offer, Ufez. I may take you up on it when the time comes. I still have 2 houses to sell by the middle of September before I have time to deal with this.

As promised, here are some scans of the baseball cards my grandfather left me. We scanned them at higher resolution, but only uploaded the low res ones for now until I decided on a better presentation format. We still plan to catelog the collection, and may create some sort of database to find them more easily. My baseball card collection
