The purging of coaches continues.: The ten-and-a-half games out of first Astros finally dump Jimy Williams, reportedly replacing him with Phil Garner.

Phil Garner? Why? This is good for my Cubbies, I suppose, but if you're going to dump a coach for underperforming on a team that's trying to actually win it all, you'd better work to find a replacement who's actually got a winning track record.

I dunno - maybe all the players just hated Jimy. Now with Garner around they'll pull a 2003-4 New Jersey Nets. I know I hate the way he spells his name. But that's about the extent of it.

Jimy isn't great with the veteran players, from what I understand.

What happened to Jimy? He seemed to be quite a hit with players when he was coaching in Atlanta. I guess the top job just doesn't agree with him.

My prediction? Phil Garner takes this team all the way to game 7 of the NLCS before losing to the Cardinals. Mark my word- it happens! Ha! I'm kidding- that's as crazy as the Sox winning 4 straight after falling behind 3 games to none in a rematch of last year's ALCS. Heh... Cardinals and Red Sox- I'd bet money on it, crazy as it sounds!
