What would you pay for the ball that Beckham missed the penalty with? : Reports are surfacing that the lucky Spaniard who caught the ball is getting bids upwards of $12 million for the fated ball.

Here's the ebay auction for the ball (from ebay Spain). On the U.S. ebay, there's an auction for the contact info of the person who has the ball. Approximately $29 will get you Pablo Carral's 411.

Thanks, msacheson. I searched ebay for the bid and saw that guy auctioning off the contact info, but it didn't occur to me that ebay had a seperate site for Spain. It'll be interesting to see what the winning bid is. It's a nice design on the ball. I suppose, but I can't be the only one that misses the traditional icosohedron black and white balls. I know, they're not sponsor logo friendly, but still.

Ah, Ufez, you're more of a traditionalist than I am in these matters. Icosahedron-balls, like Man-U-bashing and giving hooligans free pot at the big cup events, are a capital idea that should never completely go out of style.

The buyer will pay the shipping cost. Cheap bastard.....I mean, you're making $12 million...

Fake bets, fake bets! This is like when Slim Shady's house went on ebay for $8 million or something. I'm sure that's quite reasonable to an 11-year old, as would this be.

If someone has that much more money than sense, well, alright then. Even the Bonds homer balls got, what, a mill? At most? Anyway, nowhere near 12 million, that's for sure. It's a nice design on the ball. I'd offer him twenty-five bucks, take it or leave it. And he'd leave it, and then I'd have twenty five bucks to go have a piss-up with my mates and tell the story of how I lowballed the guy with the Beckham-blew-it ball. Everybody wins.
