Federer high on grass: The Guardian offers a flowery recap of Sunday's men's final at Wimbledon. "If the real Roger Federer did not return in his full peacock colours, there was enough iridescence glinting off his racket to down [Andy] Roddick."
How Many Majors Can Federer Win?, but you're right about the lack of interest.

Federer high on grass This marijuana-influenced humor has just got to stop. Really, children could be reading.

Tennis is so boring now I don't really care when I miss it.

There's nothing boring about the way Roddick plays, and when you match it with Federer's weird light-footed grace, it's a nice clash of styles. (Besides, the sports world hasn't been Rogered like this since Staubach retired.) Anyone who thinks men's tennis is boring probably fell asleep during the years that Pete Sampras held the sport in his robotic grip. Roddick and Federer are one of my favorite rivalries in years (though as Roddick said after the Wimbledon match, he needs to start beating the guy before it can be called one). You're really missing out by not checking out a Roddick match. He returned one lob so hard that the tennis official behind the court almost didn't get away in time. The thing looked like it was going 150 miles per hour.

Not sure who said it, but one of ARods opponents this past week stated 'he has no weakness'. I'd have to agree. The serve, Guiness worthy. The return is just plain nasty, and the best since Agassi. His groundstrokes are bombs. He has great control, lots of fire, and goes for his shots. His net play is coming along, but I wouldn't say its a strength. Even as RF was serving for the match, I believed Roddick could pull out a break, if not the set. 15- 0. Huge point for 15-15. 30-15, immediately followed by a huge point to tie it. The next two points are, how you say, istory. But what a match. Good thing they give out a dish to the champ, because a bowl, or any bowl-shaped trophy, at Wimbeldon would just be too much ironic referential material to bear.

The Dallas Morning News also offers a praise-filled recap. Watching Roddick blast those 140 mph serves and get beat by a guy not breaking a sweat was amazing. I know tennis is passe to most sports fans these days, but Roddick-Federer is a great match to watch.
