Bill Simmons of ESPN's Page 2: has his annual NBA trade value column up (part 2 here). I tend to think that he ranked Steve Francis and Vince Carter way too high, and didn't rank Gilbert Arenas high enough. Also, regardless of Darko's status as the #2 pick overall last year, does anyone really think if they got offered a quality young big man, the Pistons wouldn't take it? I sure don't. I won't give away #1, but it makes an interesting argument, to be sure.

Well, it's an interesting argument isn't it? LeBron is a Cleveland local, hugely popular, and looks like he's the next coming of Magic Johnson. I don't know if I'd do KG for LeBron... now, for Tim Duncan, that would be an interesting test.

Great post, if only because I've forgotten about the BSG. I think it's a legitimate question whether Cleveland would move Lebron for KG. I like KG a lot and he's a better player right now, but look at how much younger Lebron is. It's not his value but his potential that makes it a tough trade.

From a marketing standpoint, LeBron is the guy you want to start you team today. It's a win win, he's a great player that is only going to get better, and one of the most marketable personalities in all of sports. Also, hooray for Kirilenko being so high.

I take LeBron over KG....for all the reasons mentioned above. And I would wager that LeBron wins a title for KG does as well... Also, hooray for Kirilenko being so high. I agree....great analysis.

"for" = "before"

Now you ruined it: here I was picturing KG on his death bed talking to LeBron, "Some day when my boys is down . . . tell 'em to win one for the K-Jipper." I was choking up.

factoring in the Lebron for KG argument is salary. Lebron has two more years (i think) at the rookie max (I believe) whereas Duncan is making 5 times that.

Using his premise, the Cavaliers wouldn't trade LeBron straight up for KG? Riggghhhhht.
