Game on.: Game is a very thorough web site "devoted to summer little-league baseball and softball in Lawrence, Kan." Highlights include rules, cell phone and email alerts for rescheduled games, cool Flash player cards, and 360° field photos [QuickTime VR] [via Holovaty.com]

With Adrian Holovaty and Simon Willison, it pretty much had to turn out nice. Many traditional news and information sites could learn a ton from the Lawrence Journal-World network of sites and how they all tie together and use each others data and presence. Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!

Good lord, who's writing all of it? Technology or no technology, the content is a lot of work.

Lil' Brown, that was what I was getting at. Adrian had a write up of how they did it. They basically used content from all the LJ-World sites databases (news, weather, sports, KU university and sports sites) and filtered it out to help make the Game site. I was as impressed with the content as well as the technology of it myself.

I'm very gratified to see that Lawrence, KS is fully recovered from that nuclear attack it had endured back in the 80s. Seriously though, that's some pretty cool stuff for little-league baseball. I'm always amazed to see how high tech the web has enabled even the most provincial of organizations to become. I was amazed to see the other day that even my old high school football team has its own official web site, the baseball, hockey, lacrosse, track and soccer teams be damned.
