Kickstarting the baseball season rumor mill.: A three way deal rumor reported out of a Seattle paper. Boston sends Damon and Kim to Seattle. Seattle sends Garcia and Baek to Kansas City, KC sends Beltran to Boston. Seattle is dying for offense... I don't know if Damon is going to satisfy that. Rumor talk is fun.

Seattle may be dying for offense but they're getting rid of the only effective pitcher they've had this year. That sound you hear is the M's throwing in the towel. If I was the caveman, and this happened, I would be pissed.

vito, judging by the excellent USS Mariner, it sounds like Seattle is in a bad way no matter what. As a Sox fan, I wouldn't trade for Damon's $8 million contract, but a 24 year-old going through dead-arm problems because the Sox can't get him to quit his overly harsh workout schedule could be very attractive. Especially for a team so "close" to the Pacific Rim. Kim is far from a "failed starter"; his velocity has gone from the mid 90s to the low 80s because he has a dead arm he refuses to rest. The other problem is he refuses to pitch to left-handers, choosing instead to walk or hit them with startling frequency. If that could be cured and he could be convinced to take care of himself (all those kooky stories about him being able to fall asleep anywhere take on a darker tinge given the news about his teammates being frustrated with him for abusing himself), he'd be dangerous all over again. Realize those HRs to the Yankees were given up by a very young kid who was a stranger in this country. I would say there's a chance such a trade could wind up looking bad for the Sox in 10 years. Not that it will happen, according to the Royals.

While they're at it, maybe Seattle could take Contreras of our hands...

Hey, is Seattle looking for a non-relieving reliever? I've got a Mendoza they could have.

Possibly - but this just seems like a fantasy trade for Boston - the contracts of Damon and Kim make this a seriously bad move on Seattle's part, so I don't buy it - and its way too early to deal the best player available, plenty of buyers will come knocking. I see Beltran ultimately as a Dodger or (gasp) Yankee.

Well, given that Freddie's a free agent next year, seems like an awesome deal for KC too. Amass your bullshit early season rumors here.

Hey, is Seattle looking for a non-relieving reliever? No thanks! We've got Shiggy.

If Seattle is dying for offense, why would they let Beltran go to Boston? Why not get Beltran for themselves? Because they need a has-been center fielder/caveman and a failed starter with a trick delivery? That doesn't make any sense.
