Canada clinched their record-tying 23rd world hockey title with a 5-3 victory over Sweden yesterday. The infamous lucky loonie tradition was continued with two specific loonies improving their record to 3-0 when representing Canadian interests at three recent major tournaments.

Man Heatley looked good all tournament. Guy's going to tear it up next year (assuming no unexpected circumstances come to pass). However, nice as the World Championship win is, the big test comes in August. The World Cup of Hockey is a far more prominent event, especially on this side of the Atlantic.

assuming no unexpected circumstances come to pass Dude, a strike can hardly be classed as unexpected at this point.

I think perhaps mkn might have been referring to any unforeseen legal complications?

When Canada won its first Olympic gold in 50 years, the loonie became legend and now frequently makes appearances at IIHF World Championship events. I can't wait for it to appear at an NHL game to sing the national anthem.
