Real were said to believe that unless there is a radical change in the player's domestic circumstances over the next four months then (Beckham's) time in Madrid will come to a premature end. Will history see the Beckham debacle as the beginning of Sir Alex's downfall? Time will tell.

Who is this van der Valk the second link keeps talking about? Or is it just some amusing in joke the site always uses?

dng - they're referring to Ruud van Nistelrooy, as you probably guessed. Van der Valk was 1970s tv cop series set in Holland. It's just an in-joke.

I assumed so. Never heard of the tv show, though, or at least not that I remember. Also, am I the only one a bit worried about everyone writing off Man Utd already? I've got a horrible feeling they'll probably end up winning the double.

Well Arsenal had a big lead in the league at about this time last season, but they blew it. I can't see them doing that this year though. Man Utd's defence is looking very shaky, Ronaldo is a joke amongst footie fans and Fergie is clearly going even madder. Arsenal for the treble.

Arsenal for the treble. Thats my other big fear... Actually, that wouldn't be too bad, cos maybe then ITV will finally shut the fuck up about Man U beating Bayern Munich. And my head says there is no way Man Utd can come back and win the league, its just I've got this feeling of dread somewhere I just can't shake...

Ronaldo Christian Ronaldo? How is he getting the blame for lack of width when Fergie doesn't play him nearly enough to justify such?

At least my fear of United somehow coming back and winning the double looks impossible now.
