Is carbon-dating in order?: Julio Franco contnues to steam along for the Atlanta Braves, averaging nearly .300 in part-time work during the past few seasons. Andy Van Slyke recently said Franco's on "the Juice," but you have to read the post to see the Ageless Wonder's response to that and who is the toughest pitcher he ever faced.
So how old is he? Did he change the age on his birth certificate to play earlier, taking the opposite path of "little" leaguer Danny Almonte?

Is there any instance where someone played a top-level major sport with their own grandkids? Nick Altrock? Minnie Minoso? George Blanda? The Howe Family? Someone in the cricket world, perhaps? Just curious.

Franco's reply: "I am on the juice. The juice of Jesus of Nazareth." Best. Sports. Religious. Reference. Ever. I happen to be a big fan of Franco's also. Watching him swing the bat, though, I wonder how he hasn't suffered more pulls and strains. He must be in excellent physical condition.

Q: Who's the toughest pitcher you've faced? A:"Nobody, because I don't hit the pitcher. I hit the baseball." I like this guy.

I love Julio. One of my all-time favorite Rangers. I didn't remember him being so well-spoken when he played for Texas.
