Down to the wire: : the FIS alpine skiing World Cup finals are in Sestrieres this week, and six titles are still up for grabs. Most have strong favorites, but the men's overall is a four-way race. The contenders? Bode Miller and four Austrians, and that's really what it comes down to: Bode will either go big, in which case no one will be able to touch him, or he'll go into the fences and miss by a mile.
Personal sentiment? I want Bode to win so bad that if he does, I'll sacrifice my taste buds, buy a six-pack of Miller beer, and drink the whole damn thing.

what's wrong with Miller? Sure its swill, but its cheap swill that delivers on the promise of inebriation. I'd like to drive a Porsche, but I'll settle for my VW. (how unsuitable is that: a driving analogy for beers?) Bode is amazing to watch. Especially in the tigher turning races. He's one of the few who you can actually see gaining speed in his turns. GO BODE GO!!!

Now now, l_b_b, there's no need to do anything drastic. Although looking at that list, any non-Austrian would be fresh air. (Hermann Maier's an interesting cat, but I've never even heard of any of the other 44 Austrian skiers in the top 50. What are they, super Bond-villain-esque ski robots over there? Man.) I wonder if we're going to be able to see any of it here in the States. In Canada, I'm guessing the CBC'll pick it up, but if it's on ESPN6 or something, that would kind of suck.
