And more! Klapisch asserts "[I]f the U.S. government challenged Microsoft's monopoly, shouldn't baseball do likewise with the Yankees?" Noteworthy in the article, among the dastardly tales of Steinbrenner is "Steinbrenner ordered his staff to work the day after New Year's, just because he was angry that David Wells had signed with the Padres." In May a new book comes out about dealing with Steinbrenner. It seems like an interesting take on the challenges Riccardi and Esptein face as the GMs of teams, the Blue Jay and Red Sox respectively, who want to dethrone Steinbrenner and the Yankees and win the AL East.

oh! Thanks for the book info. That looks like a good one for my Dad (hates Yankees, loves Jays, pities (!) Red Sox).
