On July 9, 1969, as a young teen, I watched the Mets' Tom Seaver toss a one hitter against the Cubs. He had a perfect game going until one out in the ninth. It was one of the most intense sporting events I've even seen.

Last night, July 10th, 55 years and 1 day later, I watched Colombia v. Uruguay in the Copa America. It matched the Seaver one hitter in its intensity and drama. What a remarkable match.

Colombia v Uruguay was intense but for my money Brazil v Uruguay in the previous round was more intense and a better match. The ref yesterday was too inconsistent and Uruguay were far too wasteful.
