The O's grab a cup o' Javy.: Baltimore continues to spend money like a Hilton girl, signing the former Braves catcher to a three-year deal. Next on the radar screen: Vlad. Does this signing mean anything in the '04 pennant race, or do they have to get Guerrero?
*laughing uproariously at Pudge* HAHAHAHA! Think anyone needs a catcher in Japan?!? Seriously, who's going to put out long green for Pudge now? I think if he gets a three-year, $18M deal, he'd better jump. Oh, and kick Scott Boras right in the fricking balls.

SpoFi: Kicking greedy, arrogant sports agents in the fricking balls. I'm sensing a bit of editorializing in that tagline, jg. ;)

This means nothing to the '04 pennant race (even if they land Vlad) simply because they are in the AL East. I guess it helps them lock down third place. Guerrero would just further solidify that position. They just don't have the arms to hang. Lopez is a solid player, but we'll have to see if last year was a contract audition or if it's the new Javy. The real impact of this is Pudge is probably screwed. Given that Lopez signed for $22.5M for three years (less than the Marlins offered Pudge) and Baltimore was probably the last of the big spenders out there means Rodriguez REALLY shoulda taken the Marlins offer. Add to that the fact he blew up, burnt, and pissed on the Marlins bridge, could be another Stephen Jackson* type situation in the making. * Jackson blew of a 3 year $10M deal to stay with the Spurs to test free agency. Signed with the Hawks in training camp for 2 years $2.2M
