Marlins trade Encarnacion for the superfluous "Player to be named Later...": Well the Marlins giveaway is off to a flying start so far. As for the Dodgers, well lets just say that there is "More inside".
I don't think this says much about the Marlins- they have a very capable replacement for Encarnacion in Cabrera, whose stats are better than Encarnacion's- admittedly in about 1/2 the games. But he was playing when the games counted most, not Encarnacion.

I wonder if this means they are going to shift Green to first base. This is pretty disappointing.

Personally, I'm getting a little tired of people waiting for the Marlins to just cut their whole team. It was not big secret that they weren't going to keep everybody, even before their WS run, folks. Deal.

It's certainly not the fire sale they had after their first WS win, that's for sure. I would have thought Pudge would have stuck it out. :/ but we all know that Nomah, Manny, and ARod are all staying right where they are. i don't know. part of me says they are doing this "nothing is happening. all smoke, no fire" thing to get the media off their backs. i don't doubt they'll try to re-sign nomar, but not at the money he's delusional manager is thinking of. baseball has been fun today.

Well, once the Kevin Brown deal was announced the L.A. media was awash with rumor and innuendo. There are a lot of big names being bandied about: Vlad, Tejada, Ivan Rodriguez, Nomah... the list is literally endless. Fans gleefully pulled out their calculators and CBA translators in order to divine the Dodgers new found free agency money. Rosters were meticulously picked over. And I'll tell you this,"I'll believe it when I see it." Dan Evans may be one of the worst GM's in baseball. With the Brown deal in the bag, he may now be able to repair a very broken franchise. I expect business as usual. The fans have their hopes up therefore Dan Evans must smite them but good. Nomah to the Dodgers was looking good, but we all know that Nomah, Manny, and ARod are all staying right where they are. Odalis "I have a woman's first name" Perez for Frank Thomas sounds nice. But how hard up are the White Sox if their willing to give up the Big hurt for Odalis? I don't see it. Signing Ivan Rodriguez, and Vlad would be unbelievable! Not to mention next to impossible given the teams current state of ownership flux. Who's our ace in the hole on the starting staff? Who's the big bat in our lineup? Getting out from under Brown's albatross of a contract is a good first step, but it means nothing if they don't sign quality players to fill in the gaps of their roster. I think it's going to be a very blue summer indeed.
