Dean Smith, whose two national titles came courtesy of massive gaffes by the opposition in the final minute, was not only honored by having the new UNC arena named after him while he was still coaching, which was considered extremely bush league at the time, but was also responsible for the institution of the college shot clock thanks to his shameless ruination of the game with the four corners.

Fittingly, the Dean Smith Center is often criticized for its design which dulls the student crowd and results in lackluster home court environments.

But isn't it perfect Duke luck for the Devils to name Scheyer the new coach only to watch reliably awful Coach K protoge Jeff Capel suddenly start tearing up the conference to the point where Jim Boeheim, of all people, who has as much business being in the ACC as Fresno State, starts throwing shade on Capel's Pitt program. Which has as much business being in the ACC as UTEP.
