Qatar has suddenly reversed course at the eleventh hour and banned alcohol sales at the World Cup matches.

The awarding and staging of this Cup feels more and more like the accommodation, legitimization and emboldening of Putin with the Sochi Olympic Games.

There's no telling if other dramatic changes to previously established terms, understandings and agreements might be abruptly foisted on FIFA by the host nation.

If I had a roomful of idle dollars laying around, I'd see to it that every person attending the tournament got a complimentary vuvuzela.
