There are two Bill Belichick coaching trees: guys that coached for him and guys that played for him.

If Kevin O'Connell continues to succeed as the new coach of the Vikings, he will further cement the superiority of the former player tree over the former coach tree (along with Kliff Kingsbury, Mike Vrabel, Wes Welker et al.).

Belichick has been selective in hiring former players as coaches. After having multiple punts blocked in 2021, if Matthew Slater retires, the Pats would do well to add him to the special teams coaching staff. He's got that Patriots lifer honor roll vibe that Troy Brown personifies.
