Apparently, being flat wrong is an equal opportunity game.

Recently, Deadspin got in trouble for its hit piece on Niners OC Mike McDaniel * by hammering on their assumption that McDaniel was White rather than biracial.

It would be reasonable to think that sports journalists got a clear message from that debacle, but not entirely so.

Yesterday, the Atlanta Black Star (of all sources) posted an article on the firing of minority coaches via TSL and Yahoo that contains the following:

it's no secret that the Niners have two up and coming coordinators in defensive guru DeMeco Ryans, who's Black and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel who's white

Hopefully, this is not another case of a falsehood being uttered so often that it becomes accepted.

Meanwhile, McDaniel must be wondering: "What's a guy gotta do...?"

Black, white, mauve .. what is important is whether the person excels at their position.

As a 49ers fan I am amazed at how Ryans and McDaniel managed to get the 49ers into the conference championship with their extremely fragile QB situation.

Here's hoping the subjects of these articles can simply ignore the noise and continue to concentrate on being amongst the best in the NFL.

Some validity to the linked article however. The 49ers are essentially firing a coach who developed Kittle into one of the best tight ends in the game. Reality is they can't fire the guy guy who broke the bank for an extremely marginal NFL QB ... he's in Jacksonville now.
