Charlie O. Finley would have done something like that, but for entirely different reasons.

50 years ago, an opening chapter was written in the book of trouble that was caused by Finley's way with a dollar bill.

That's a great story, beaver, but this offer sheet is kind of the opposite of being cheap. The Hurricanes offer for the young Finn is a terrible overpayment and if successful, not only will it cost the team the $6 million in salary for the young lad, but it will also cost a 1st and 3rd round draft pick to Montreal next year. The $20 signing bonus is a just another finger in the eye of Montreal's offer sheet to the Hurricanes' young Finn, Sebastian Aho, from a few years ago. Petty? Yes, very petty.
