As I was watching Durant's Game 5 performance, I kept thinking back to rookie Magic Johnson's historic 42 point show filling in at center for the injured Kareem in Game 6 of the 1980 Finals.
Magic is a legend, but the two games aren't in the same planetary orbit. Magic wowed people, exceeded expectations, and cemented his place in the league, but Durant was utterly wizardly and transcendent. On another level.
What I love about watching De Bruyne is the growth in his depth of presence on the pitch. He used to be a weapon. Now he's a force.

Between the last two days, I am starting to think people with the initials KD (or Kd, I suppose) are preternaturally good at sports.
