SportsFilter: The Friday Huddle:

A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.

If you've run out of things to do while waiting to get scheduled for a Covid vaccine, you can tap into the growing hysteria surrounding the Russell Wilson situation in Seattle.

There are some folks that definitely need to switch to decaf and sit down to watch a few episodes of the British baking show.

On the other hand, maybe all the hubbub is part of God's plan to de-Kiper America.

God is in for a long day. Kiper can spin anything into the ongoing effort to sustain his relevance.

Flames fire head coach Geoff Ward, bring back Darryl Sutter

You would think there would be another Sutter lying around they could try out.

Gary, perhaps?

Trista

Not going to say she's lying around. That would be inappropriate.

How about a "Suter"? Might be worth less money because there is one less T?

A lot less money. In some parts of California, the name Sutter is pure gold.

I had to Google to find out who Trista is.
That's 20 seconds of my life I'll never get back.

If you google "drama" and "dysfunction" and then type in "not Texans" and "not Jets", Trista's name should pop right up to the top of the search results.

When my kids were young (before Facebook and smart phones) and I was always driving one of them to the dentist, I found myself continually faced with stacks of People magazines in the waiting room. I would speed skim through several issues while they were in the chair, and then a day or two later I would blow their minds by casually mentioning an arcane factoid about a celebrity out of the blue.

I referenced adolescent culture heroes they were sure I didn't know even existed, let alone had accumulated any dirt on. I'd walk past the dinner table and say something like "I wish Paris Hilton hadn't violated her probation" and they would look at each other in stunned silence.

Once you have more than two kids, you can't play man to man anymore. You have to play zone. And the best way to keep order in the household is not through fear and intimidation, but through managed uncertainty and keeping people off balance.

He knew that? What else does he know? That we don't know he knows? What happened to the separate world we once had all to ourselves?

Please don't ever change. I loved every single word in that comment. I have one kid but she's got enough game I should consider moving to a zone.
