Forget Halloween or unlucky Fridays.

Today is the 13th anniversary of the David Tyree helmet catch that helped lead the Giants to their 17-14 Super Bowl win over the 18-0 Patriots.

Maradona's Hand of God goal was just simple trickery. The entire play that resulted in the helmet catch (along with the muffed interception by Asante Samuel the previous play) glowed with the presence of an unseen hand, guiding the Giants to victory.

I will never begrudge the Giants that freaky championship because they did remarkable things to put themselves in a position to compete for it. At the end of the regular season, they beat the Bills in a wild Buffalo blizzard and barely lost to the then undefeated Patriots.

Then they won three road games as a wild card team, including a divisional win over the top seeded Cowboys and the NFC championship over the second seeded Packers in the second coldest game ever played at Lambeau Field.

And yet TB12 is playing again this Sunday, can any of the others from that day say the same? (Ed. note: This makes me sad.)

JPP was a force in that game.

Good catch.

Thanks. Realistically JPP could and probably would have been MVP of that game if not for the string of massive plays Eli made towards the end.
