If you are old enough or into basketball history, this about the death of Pete Maravich tells a story worth reading.

R I P Tommy Lasorda. Few people in baseball have been his equal in being an ambassador for the game. I found it interesting that his record in 20 years of managing was 1599 - 1439. That's only 8 games above .500 per year, and it translates to a record of 85 - 77 in a year. The important thing is that he inherited some Dodger teams that weren't very good and turned them into champions. Although he has long since come to terms with it, I wonder if Dennis Eckersley will ever stop asking why Lasorda put Kirk Gibson up to pinch hit.
