Yesterday's gripping Dolphins - Jets contest served as a historical mile marker.

It was 40 years ago that the first NFL game without announcers was broadcast as an experiment by NBC.

The network thought they should choose a game with little significance and scant playoff implications for the experiment. In their best judgment, they chose a game between...the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.
