Please join No Mich in welcoming LaVar Ball to the previously undisturbed state of North Carolina.

I think if it were any other team drafting this particular Ball, he would be a major contributor to the greatness of said team. However, since it was Charlotte picking him, he's going to be an all time bust.
This year's draft was the first time in 20-some years that Kentucky, Duke, or Carolina didn't produce a lottery pick.
You fans of the Bulls and Spurs are going to love your Florida State picks.

Oh, and beavy, LaVar Ball spent a cup of coffee in Charlotte back in '95 while on the Panthers practice squad. I actually did not know that until just today.

Well, then I guess you won't have to personally escort Mr. B to the Skylight for chopped meat. He probably already knows about it.

Opposite side of the state, so he probably went up to Lexington for that ketchup based barbecue. Which is also very good, but...you know the drill by now...not Skylight Inn good.

Now that I think about it, he probably spent all of his restaurant time at Mert's in Charlotte. I base that on the fact that I would spend all of my restaurant time at Mert's as well. It's just a stroll up from the football stadium, after all. Wait! The Panthers played their first season in Clemson. Sheesh, how could I forget that? So, I take it all back. This *is* Lavar's first time in NC. I guess that's why it got below freezing last night.

When they played at Clemson, that's when they were the real Carolina Panthers.
According to the mustard BBQ peeps.

Ketchup based bbq ... never. Mustard, yes, even if only to bind the rub.
So the elder Ball boy is starting to look like a decent 7th or 8th man on a bad team and may actually be a serviceable NBA player for 5 or 6 years. Still it does not seem there is enough upside to have to deal with all of the baggage.
Was the kid that got drafted the same one who was thrown out of college for theft during games in a foreign country? Why would anyone waste a top pick on someone like that, especially in basketball where your top 5 players have to be great athletically and mentally. Brutal pick, unless somehow the kid gets decoupled from his family and reformed by his new organization.

How so?

He has length and is a decent ball handler and passer. It's possible he grows into a Shaun Livingston style role spelling starters although this would require a lot of development both offensively and defensively to attain. He played a lot of minutes with the Pelicans but the team would be better off with a player who can at least balance out +/- wise versus his opponents.
