The results are in, : and as expected, it's Halladay by several lengths. Loaiza comes in second, and Martinez sneaks past Hudson for third. Bringing up the pack, it's Hudson, Moyer, Pettitte, Foulke, and Santana. Baseball Prospectus writers agree, at least about first place, as do their readers. Wins still matter, it would seem.
Well deserved win. I kind of figured Pedro would end up in 4.

Wins may still matter to the sportswriters, but the other groups voted for Hallady as a result of his innings pitched and quality of competition. I'm not convinced Halladay was the best choice, but I'm not convinced he wasn't, either.

Actually, it's wins and who you beat that matters. Imagine Halladay's numbers if he had Detroit in his division instead of Boston and New York. Throw in the ridiculous number of innings pitched and the shutouts and the 15-decision winning streak and the dominant finish to the season and it really should have been a no-brainer as to who was going to win the award. I'll bet that both 1st place votes that Loaiza got were from his home-town reporters.
