There is currently a war going on for the soul of Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy.
Here's an entry that an ill-wisher posted on Kennedy's Wikipedia page recently:
Kennedy led A&M to a number five ranking early in the 2017-2018 season before a collapse of epic proportions. The team was heralded as the most talented A&M team ever assembled, but due to poor effort, lack of fundamentals, and bad coaching they turned out to be the most disappointing team in recent memory.
A short while ago, that was taken down and replaced with following:
Kennedy led A&M to a number five ranking early in the 2017-2018 season and the team finished with 20 regular season wins. The team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament to play North Carolina.
Then, that was taken down and the first entry reappeared. Then the second entry reappeared. Not sure who is going to win the battle. It could go on a while. If TAMU beats UNC, no telling what could happen.

The record number of big-name schools crashing out of March Madness seems indicative of the lackluster level of play of this year's regular season. Is there any sort of metric that can measure parity within a single sport over the course of a season to test that hypothesis?

I think we've already reached the point where CBS has enough top shelf material for their One Shining Moment montage and if they wait till the end of the tournament to collect more footage they're going to break their video editing equipment.
I regained consciousness last night just in time to see UM deliver its game winning Poole dagger. You can not script this shit, even in childhood driveway dreams.
