I wonder what it means for MLS if lower-tier clubs in the U.S. start to be profitable because they can snap up young talent and make big bucks on player transfers.
It seems like it could be good for USMNT. More money in more teams means more American talent being developed.

I also wonder if the eventual introduction of promotion and relegation to/from MLS is a factor in their thinking. It's a relatively cheap initial investment for larger long term returns.
