Congrats to New Zealand on their America's Cup win.

In lauding NZ helmsman Peter Burling, the press mentioned that he had previously won Moth class championships.

How cool, I thought. I remember the first time I saw a Moth in a boat shed when I was a kid. It was awesome, an alluring little wooden almond.

What I didn't understand was that those quaint craft of yore are what are now known as Classic Moths.

Burling had made his mark in today's Foiling Moths, which are another thing altogether. I went and looked them up. Good gracious. Video abounds. Here's one.

Wow, that guy is hauling ass on that little thing. If you know what you're doing, that looks like a blast.
