Kurt Warner's wife Brenda, who has her own radio show in St. Louis, made news yesterday by saying that he's open to being traded. "There is something utterly Machiavellian about all of this," says columnist Bryan Burwell.
Can you trade him back to A&P? Brenda's hair looks like it was modelled after Johnny Unitas'. These God people I have little patience for. Shouldn't Warner, who in his wisdom gave all the credit for his amazing career to God, start blaming him for his past few starts. "God really dropped the ball today, his head isn't in the game."?

Damn...ease up. His wife was asked a question, she answered honestly. And Kurt backed his wife up, because what she said was true.

As a St. Louisan (well, close, anyhow), I'd like to point a couple things out: 1) The radio show Brenda Warner was on is the Steve and DC Show, a formerly popular syndicated duo which now runs in 20 markets. The two have, at best, a limited knowledge of sports, and it certainly isn't the focal point of their shows. A "Jerky Boys" rip-off is. 2) The pair were banished from St. Louis radio some 10 years ago for a while after one of them used the word "nigger" on the air. 3) The two now have a very strong Christian connection. What in the WORLD Brenda Warner, who is known, along with her husband, as a big Christian, is doing on the air with these two is a mystery. Suffice it to say, people are not tuning in to hear about the Rams. Still, I don't think she did anything wrong, really. She was asked a question and she answered it. So what? Who wouldn't want to be traded? Does that mean he's going to be a lump for the remainder of the year?

What I want to know is, what size of trouser she wears? Certainly Kurt isn't asking her to keep quiet about how he feels. It's noble to defend one's own, but there are better means to their end.

There was some discussion of this last night on "NFL Live," where an unknown-to-me lineman said his wife would never make statements about football matters. My question is — how is it not Brenda Warner's business also? It has a great deal to do with her life, where she resides, switching churches, etc. If these guys asked her the question, why should she duck it?

No doubt it effects her, but not on a primary basis. But, it's not her going to work with the coaching staff and players everyday. Maybe Kurt asked her to stir the pot for him, or she took the initiative. Who knows? All I know is she did it last year too.

There are some differing circumstances here, however, to be taken however you choose. Last year, Brenda Warner called a sports talk show to directly refute things being said on the air about her husband's health and how the Rams were treating him. This time, she was responding to a question posed to her during a paid radio interview. Garfield, not a "primary basis?" If your wife had a great job and suddenly the company decided to transfer her to, say, Seacaucus, New Jersey, you'd be willing to make that move with no squawking? Yes, you wouldn't go on radio and bitch about your treatment. But then, no one would have you on the radio to talk about it, nor does the general public give a rat's ass about the vast majority of us. What the Warners do is in the public eye, and I admire Brenda for speaking her mind, and even calling up last year and calling out the Rams for what they were saying about her husband. She might be a Yoko ... but I'll take that over a mouse any day.

I guess I like it when people don't use the media to solve internal team issues. Her simply being on the radio, a shock/toilet humor program for that matter, is pretty much entitlement to ask anything, which in this case I think is, well, a loaded situation. Post SuperBowl win, let her talk all she wants. I think what the Rams do is in the public eye, what the Warners do is make it public. And the example from last year further exemplifies this behavior. But I agree, feisty is always better than flimsy. Guys like bitches. Girls like assholes.
