Fourth times a charm?: The Jazz took three mighty swings at Clipper free agents Elton Brand, Andre Miller, and Corey Maggette and struck out. And so, with no experienced guard in the fold Miller and Co. signed Jason Terry to an offer sheet, hoping to capitalize on Atlanta's inability to move in lieu of the possible sale of the franchise. Do Jazz fans like the signing? Do they like the moves their management have attempted? Are they receptive to the situation?

lilnemo needs a date. As for the Jazz, forget it. Thus begineth their long awaited slide into mediocrity. The West is where good second tier teams go to die.

Begineth? Slide? Vito, the Jazz begun this slide in 1998, immediately after Jordan's shot fell, with the departure of Hornacek & the aging of Stockton & Malone, it's been nothing but downhill since. And there's no more sliding left, they officially hit bottom, in my opinion. There will be a few years (how many remains to be seen) of complete mediocrity. Either it will be brief, like the early 90's Lakers, or sustained, like the post Jordan Bulls. Either way, Utah fans, avert your eyes for a while, this won't be pretty.

From lilnemo's article: "Jason Terry is one of the most underrated players in the NBA." I think that is the key thought here.

Ultimately I think Atlanta matches the offer. Terry is the only marquee(?) player on their roster besides Abdur-Rahim. And 'Reef cannot operate in a vaccuum. Hell, he barely won any games in Vancouver when he had Bibby!
I for one pity the Jazz fan. After almost 20 years of winning seasons, playoff runs, and 2 Finals berths they are forced into close proximity of the Clippers, Nuggets, and Warriors fans. I don't think Terry is a realistic option. Playing him at the point only derails the development of the other point guards on your roster (Arroyo, Lopez, Williams). Playing him at the two puts you at a disadvantage in the post in the taller west. Which places a lot of pressure on other players to provide help and ultimately foul out. Atlanta fell prey to this last year, although most of the defensive shortcomings resided with Glenn "I Stole Antoine Carr's nickname" Robinson playing matador and allowing opposing players lanes to the basket, as well as Rahim, Mohammed, and on occasion Ratliff.
