Grantland is dead: "Grantland distinguished itself with quality writing, smart ideas, original thinking and fun. So we're junking it."

That's too bad. I always enjoyed reading any articles to which someone else posted a link.

The Grantland section on the ESPN home page dropped so far "below the fold" in the last month or so that it was fighting for space with the Privacy Policy and Copyright info. So this is no surprise. (I wonder if Nate Silver and FiveThirtyEight are looking over their shoulder?).
It's a real shame, I really enjoyed the different angle and unique reporting that was being done there. The attempt to broaden the scope of sports journalism will be sorely missed. Coming soon on ESPN: more breathless reports of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian's relationship status as well as a five part series on how Stephen Curry's wax figurine was created at Madame Tussaud's.

Really disappointed at losing one of my daily stops.
