The Homeless World Cup.: Interesting angle in helping the world's homeless. As seen on HBO Real Sports. Mary Carillo reports that there were even groupies!
Since autumn 2002 Manchester United supports the english homeless squad within its "United Football in the Community Scheme" with training facilities and professional coaches. During training sessions Manu stars and Alex Ferguson, manager of ManU, joined the Homeless Team for some kick outs Damn you Man U and Fergie, don't you know you're supposed to be evil? The whole thing seems a marvellous idea.

That's pretty cool, bull! Pity I hadn't heard of it earlier. Well, I wish them every success. I wonder what the after effects will be for the participants in this first tourney. It'd be nice if the site had some follow-up reports or on-going followup blogging, something grassroots like that.
