United showed up 48 seconds late for their game against City tonight.

Would be fun to see this game keep up with the Classico on Saturday.

"THAT IS UTTERLY MAG---MAGHHH---MAGISTERIAGGGHHH...."

"This is Broward County 911, your call is being recorded. Where is your emergency?"

Not passing to Lukaku is a brave move.

If he'd ignored the pass and then missed that might be the last time we ever saw him.

Defenders on that goal look as if the play was scripted. Nice run, though.

The game recap at The Guardian goes a bit over the top: "Ross Barkley scored the sort of outrageously audacious virtuoso goal reminiscent of Diego Maradona in his pomp . . . " Of course, the same story mentions "the equally eye-catching Barcelona loanee Gerard Deulofeu"— I can't argue with that, but almost every time he caught my eye it was followed by me screaming, "How about you try to score instead?"

Barkley, when healthy, has been the kind of revelation this year that makes being an Everton fan a wistful gig: so good and so highly praised you can only hope he gets sold to a club in a different country. I got in a deeper funk last weekend when I realized pretty much every Everton player good enough to have been sold on since I started watching in 2006 has flunked out: Arteta's done the best, but now he's being blamed for much of Arsenal's woes in midfield. The rest of the list is a shambles: Lescott and Fellani have looked terrible and Rodwell's been so bad he's apparently coming back to Everton much like Steven Pienarr did after the failed Tottenham transfer.

I love that ManUtd needed stewards to protect "The Chosen One" banner hanging at the Stretford End of Old Trafford last night. Football genius my ass and oh hey Sir Alex, who've you got for us next?
