Brandon Phillips considers his $72.5m contract a "slap in the face."

From Joey Votto's reaction, a singularity: "Not many players are very honest, usually they give catch phrases, similar to what I'm doing right now."

Interesting. I've been a huge fan of Dat Dude BP since he came to Cincinnati, and was thrilled when they signed him for 6 more years. I'd like to believe that this is a tempest in a teapot caused by unfortunate phrasing, rather than genuine hard feelings. Therefore, I will bury my head in the sand and believe that to the exclusion of any forthcoming evidence to the contrary.

Funny. $72.5 million is a slap in the face I'd love to have any day.

MLB wants ARod off the Yankees payroll so they can field a decent team sometime in the next 10 years. Yankees mean a whole lot of $$$ to MLB.

The Yankees can afford to field a team with him or without him.

Any Yankee fan would love to see his contract voided, I just worry about the precedent it will set if he is banned for life.

Steve Howe and Ferguson Jenkins both were banned for life for substance problems, and were then reinstated. I think ARod could come back after a time, if he wanted...
